Shower and 31 weeks

My mom, aunt, and sisters hosted showers for me this weekend and they were WONDERFUL!
Of course, my mom is SUPER creative and everything was just too cute.

I'm trying to find a spot in her nursery to hang her name.
These will be hung in her nursery as well!

How awesome is this? It will be hung on her door. Mom made it in like an hour. So awesome.

I had some friends come I hadn't seen in FOREVER! It was overwhelming to see so many people and feel so blessed and loved. My mom has some awesome friends!!!
My friend Jenn made Colbi the CUTEST bib, onesie, and burp cloth. She makes and sells them!

Dave and I were SO excited to get the video monitor we registered for. We've been playing with it already. HA!

I can't even begin to say thank you to my aunt, my mom and sisters for all the hard work they did to make our shower so amazing. Seriously y'all, between the food and decorations, that was some hard work! Colbi got some awesome stuff and great keepsakes I can not wait to share with her. Two of my favorites are the blankets we got (hand made) and a smock dress that a family friend made, they are ADORABLE. Playing dress up when she gets here will be so. much. fun!

First Mother's Day

I told Dave yesterday I'm not "technically" a mom yet, even though I will be shortly. He assured me I qualified, as did my parents. We had a great Mother's Day. We went to my sister's house and ate lunch and got the best present:

This camcorder/camera is a-mazing! Mom and Dad got it for us and we are so thankful! I was going to borrow their's for Colbi's arrival. It takes 1080p pictures and video. And, it's the size of your phone. Awesome.

I got several cards and some yummy chocolates, which Dave wanted to eat by the way. We had a great afternoon!

This day was special to me for several reasons.

#1. I have a great mom. She's creative and fun and spunky. She has a great sense of style and loves to shop! Needless to say, between her and myself, Colbi will be one happenin' little girl. My mom is also one of the the most giving women I know (and not just monetarily). She gives her time to others, which now that I'm older, I understand and appreciate.

#2. I'm surrounded by amazing mothers! My sister Jenna is simply an awesome mother to my niece. She loves her oh so much. She is calm, cool, collected. Jenna is fun and witty. I'm thankful to be having a little girl to share with her this experience. We always joke that Avery and Colbi can hate us together during the teen years and Jenna and I will make it thru together! My MIL is also a terrific mom. Dave adores his mother. She is understanding and very patient. I appreciate having a MIL who loves me and we get along, not everyone can say that. My SIL Kristen is also someone I admire. She spends her weekends at the ballpark or soccer field supporting her kids every weekend. That's a mother's love right there!

#3. I feel so blessed and grateful to be so close to being a mom. This same day last year, we received the news that we lost our first baby. I will always remember it. May 13th this year was a day of joy and being thankful. It's amazing what can change in a year. My heart is with all of those women who have lost a child through miscarriage, sickness, whatever. I'm reminded how lucky I am to be experiencing this whole pregnancy and God's will, a healthy little girl at the end. As her due date approaches, I get more and more anxious and excited to see her face. To smell her. To hold her. And, I'm so thankful I'll have a job that will be flexible and I can spend time with her.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there! Hope you had a great day!

What I'm going to tell my daughter

I clocked out for the last time yesterday at school. Over the past ten months, I put in 1500 hours..........it was a long road. I have officially decided I am DONE with school, of any type. I have a Bachelor's degree and will be a licensed cosmetologist soon enough. Dave asked if I was sure..........I'm pretty sure. :)

(my fellow classmates threw confetti everywhere, even down my dress!)

I want Colbi to know that you are NEVER to old to have a dream. I want Colbi to never stop learning, growing, changing. That setting goals is something everyone should do, you'll win some and loose some, but you keep going. I just never want Colbi to think there comes an age where you can't change something about your life you may not like. I want Colbi to be confident enough to find what her passion is and just go for it. You only get one life, so don't waste it.

And, that she was with me for when I finished one of my dreams. That's pretty special I think.

29 weeks

This week has been interesting. I have been completely useless I feel like due to exhaustion. It was as if on Sunday, my body has just said no! No more! I think this is more of just being tired of school and work, although third trimester has a little to do with it.

Colbi is doing well though. About 17 in. and about 2.5lbs. I'm anxious to go back to the doctor and get any updates.

Only real craving this week has been strawberry limeades from Sonic. Yum!

Sleep? Hadn't been going too well.....

Nursery is almost finished being painted! And the bedding came in. Can't wait for it to start being put together.

I go in for my glucose test Monday (my birthday!), so here's hoping I get good results.

On to other news, I left school yesterday, pulled into the gas station and found this:

Stupid flat tire! Luckily, when we bought my tires in February, we bought the insurance and Roadside assistance to go along with them. Much props to Parking Lot Assistance too! They were SO friendly and the guy who changed my tire was super quick and very nice. I did get to then go back to NTB to replace the tire. What is it with tire places? I was there almost two hours, long enough for me to take a nap in the lobby. But for $38 bucks, it wasn't all bad.

I then went straight home and passed out. Seriously, by like 630, I was out like a light.

Successful day I must say. Ha!
