You know when........

You're truly sick because the following things happen:

#1: You get really whiny towards your husband to bring home medicine and a chocolate shake and blow his phone up on his way home cause he is taking to long.

#2: You call your parents to tell them you don't feel good and the following comment always comes out of my dad's mouth "take some tylenol and drink some pepsi and you'll be fine"

#3: You haven't showered and then attempt to go to Walmart because you are out of laundry detergent and dishwasher soap with dirty bed hair and the same clothes you have been in for the past two days.

#4: Your head is so stopped up the tv show you are trying to watch is at volume 50 and it still isn't loud enough for you to hear.

I am feeling better though, trying to wash everything so that the gross germs don't continue to go back and forth between me and Dave. Lysol is also becoming my best friend :)

Sick Household

So not much has been going on lately except work and Dave and I both being sick! Dave started it all and then handed it off to me! The nerve...........I had to work Saturday and came home and went straight to bed. Sunday I got out of bed once for two hours and then straight back in. I managed to get out of bed today and made it to work, why? Because unless I'm dying I have this ridiculous need to get up and go to work. Although, I highly doubt I'll make it tomorrow. I'm not feeling great at all!!

Although, I was very excited to find that my friend Whitney started blogging!! I was so happy, she is always up to date about all the blog "friends" out there but hadn't started blogging yet. Whitney has three posts so go check her blog out :)

I hope everyone had a great weekend and is staying away from all germs!! Being sick is NO FUN!!!

I'll leave you with this quote I came across, I thought it was cute! "Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway". HAHAHAHA, puts it into perspective huh~!

Friendship bread and furry children

So since we don't have kids yet, I like to brag on our furry children: C'Mere and Buddy. C'Mere doesn't realize sometimes that he is a big dog. I mean he is a big boy, he weighs almost 100 pounds. Sometimes when we are loving on Buddy (who is like 20 lbs) C'Mere gets a bit jealous and likes to try and climb in our lap too. Hence, the picture below..........isn't he cute though!

He is saying Daddy, I need attention too!! "I'm here too! Pay attention to me"

"Mmmm, maybe Mommy is paying attention to me. If I bat my big brown eyes at her maybe she will let me in her lap?!"
So I debated on posting a picture of my sweet husband who went to bed at 7:30, yes that's right. So I decided to bake, while watching Dancing with the Stars of course! My friend Whitney gave me some friendship bread to make so I made a complete mess in the kitchen while baking this wonderfully delicious treat. If you haven't ever had friendship bread go here and read all about it. It's so incredibly yummy so you know that means it's loaded with calories. Except for the batches I make, I suck those calories right outta there! :)
I don't want to say anything yet but Dave may have gotten something good fall into his lap job wise. I have to say, it's pretty amazing how things come together sometimes. You know, I have been reading the One Month to Live book, which is great and it really focuses on the true point of life (and how the rest of everything else are just details we place importance in but really don't matter). How worrying is something we do when we aren't being fully faithful in God. I decided when the whole job lay off thing happened to trust my husband and trust in God. And you know, he does provide. Not always in the way we look for or hope but he does. So until I know for sure all the details and all that I won't say another word. Just that God is good, family is great, and I am an extremely blessed women.
Hope your week is going great!!!!!

Our Saturday

WOW, I'm tired. Today was a very, very long day for Dave and I. I scheduled myself to go visit Springtown, TX for their annual Wild West Festival to share information about the University of Phoenix for anyone who was interested in getting into school. Our day started off at 3:30AM! Yes you read that right. I got up at 3:30 got ready and headed out to Springtown to start setting up for the event. OH MY!! We got there at about 5:45 set our stuff up and then started to talking to all the attendees of the event. The weather was good and cooperated and didn't rain although it was extremely muggy and humid.

Thank you to my sweet, sweet husband for getting up with me this morning super early! Dave drove me there, help set up my tent, table and stuff and hung out with me ALL day!! This was a feat for Dave as he is NOT a morning person. He even helped talked to people and sent them my way if they had questions!!!

Dave I couldn't ask for a more loving husband, I know there were many things you could have been doing today. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!

We may have changed the lives of 7 people today!!!
p.s. Dave and I are now on the couch getting ready to watch "the game" tonight (Texas vs. Tech) You can pretty much say we are done for the day, my toes even hurt :)

This just in.......

To Dave Matthews,

I just wanted to tell you no matter how many times I see you in concert or how many times I hear you sing you are still by far my favorite artist of all time. Seeing you on the Ellen DeGeneres Show today reminded me just how much I love you. You can sing to me anytime! Thank you for being you..............and for having the same name as my hubby. :)
For anyone that isn't a fan, I just would like to say. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?! tee hee.

Happy Hump Day!

Our neighbors Matt and Heather came over a few nights ago which is great because that means Avery (their daughter) gets to come too! Avery is two months old and just precious! Although, Buddy wasn't to sure about her! He was wondering who this little thing was that smelled so good.

Dave had her posted so she could watch the Ranger/Packer game with us. She is a pro, used to getting her picture taken. She looks just like her daddy. Avery likes to sit up or for whoever is holding her to walk around. I think it's because she doesn't like to miss anything.........
She was just staring at Matt, I wonder what babies think of as adults make faces at them and talk in that sweet little voice that only works with babies or puppies. Hmmmmmmm.
Today I was off due to my new crazy schedule (I can't really plan any events, I attend events that are already planned) so Dave and I went to get our haircut. I absolutely love my hairstylist. Her name is Amy and she is awesome! So if you are looking for a new hairstylist let me know. Amy works out of Mansfield. I decided to go dark, for a few reasons and of course I had to chop some hair off. I'm addicted to short hair, can't help it. Buddy got a haircut too! He was so glad too, poor thing was getting to where he couldn't see us. Shame on me, good Mommies take them more often!

Weekend Wrap Up

Are you ready for some football????

Today is Sunday. What this means in the Petty household is that Dave watches football practically all day, in his Cowboy shirt, with the computer infront of him to keep track of his fantasy team. Ladies, does this sound familiar to anyone else?! I had to get a picture of the boys watching the game, just to funny. I on the other hand usually watch movies if I'm not cleaning or doing something else. Today's movie was New In Town, pretty cute little movie if I do say so myself.

The other super exciting thing that happened in the Petty house this weekend was this:
Yep! That's right. On Dave's way home Friday due to all the rain that God has blessed us with he hydroplaned and hit a cement guard rail. Thankfully both Dave and CJ are okay (they were coming home from working for a friend) so the truck took the hit. I'm so looking forward to what our insurance company has to say about it. Thank God for full coverage and gap insurance!

Silver lining: his tail light is still fully functional therefore that is one less thing we will have replace.

We will need to buy a new tire and rim. That is if the insurance company doesn't total the thing. The entire bed was pushed into the cab so we are thinking the whole bed will need to be replaced. But you know what they say about assuming things.........I won't go there :)

On a brighter note, I must say. I love Brett Favre. Every season when he decides that he isn't going to retire and switches teams I know that I can look forward to seeing him in interviews and on the field in the extremely cute uniforms these football players are forced to wear. Brett, here's to another season with another team. I hope your season is all it's meant to be and even when others left you please know I am still here for support. I know you'll be great, just one request. Please, and I ask you this out of love, please don't say your going to retire this season and then come back last minute. People are starting to talk.

Have a great week everyone!!!!

Crab legs and birthday cake

Tonight we met my parents out at one of Dave's favorite restaurant to celebrate his birthday!! Dave's favorite thing to eat is crab legs, he loves them! So we went to Joe's Crab Shack and he was in heaven!!

He got the king crab legs!! I had to get a picture of how BIG they were! Yummy!!

So we are not one of those families who tells the server that we are celebrating a birthday but Dave happen to let it slip so the server came out and this is what they make you do. He got the pony and cowboy hat and they sang happy birthday while running around the restaurant.
"Giddy up horsey!" Dave was super red by the time it was over because he hates getting up infront of people and my Mom, Dad and I were cracking up. Of course, no one else in the restaurant cared but it was pretty funny to us. My parents also get us our favorite cake from the Red Oven Bakery in Arlington and it's so yummy! Our favorite is the red velvet, it's one of the best parts of celebrating birthdays in the Pecor house. I absolutely love that my parents started that tradition!
Thank you Mom and Dad for a good night filled with laughs and good fried food! We always love a good meal! You will be happy to know that part of his birthday $$$ went to a new tackle box, he was absolutely giddy when he came home :) We love you guys!

Invisible Miracles

Invisible Miracles
8 Sep 2009Tracie Miles"And my God will meet all of your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Phillipians 4:19 (NIV)Recently, I "tempted fate." I teetered on the brink of death, gazed at hundreds of feet upside down, and heard blood piercing screams from all sides. There were tears and fear in people's eyes, including my own.

I took a ride on a rollercoaster!I was a good sport during our family outing at the theme park and rode several rollercoasters. But there was one in particular that made me think. It was called The Ricochet: an erratic ride where one would practically fall off the edge of the track just before abruptly (and painfully I might add) jerking back to safety.

Each time we neared the edge of the track my stomach sunk and q uick thoughts popcorned: what if a chain broke? A gear jammed? A mechanism failed? And how close would I be to my demise if these happened?Teetering on the brink of terror, praying nothing would break and I would be jerked back to safety even if it hurt, I wondered how many times God has protected me from danger without my realization.

I thought back on my college years and questioned how I ever made it out alive. God was surely there protecting me when I made bad decisions and gave little thought to the consequences.

I thought about how fearful I was that I would never be able to have a baby, but remembered how my heart was overwhelmed as I drank in the glow of Christ's forgiveness and mercy shining through the big blue eyes of my first little girl.

I thought about my son who was born with premature lungs and could not draw his first breath, and how God protected him and helped him grow into an active little boy.

I thought about when my 18 mont h-old daughter fell through an attic in a two-story home, landing on the hard garage floor, miraculously escaping injury without even one broken bone in her tiny little body.

I thought about how each of my children are well and God has protected us from illness or harm.I thought about how my marriage is still thriving, despite the trend of divorce plaguing couples today.

I thought about the day I miraculously averted a major collision. A deep gash in the bumper of my car reminds me of how close to death I was, but how God pushed that truck away just far enough to miss us. A millimeter of movement, in a millisecond of time.

I cannot help but wonder, how many other times has God protected us when we were not aware? How many times have armies of angels surrounded me and my family with a cushion of protection? How often has God stepped in between me and danger, and I didn't even know it?

A close call with danger or death is a stark reminder of God's grac ious protection. I am reminded to thank Him for His goodness and protection, even during times I didn't realize His presence. I am reminded to consider the invisible Savior that is always walking closely beside me.Be on the lookout for the invisible activity of God in your life, and don't take anything for granted today. Show Him your gratefulness.

Dear Lord, thank You for who You are, and for protecting me and loving me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Weekend Wrap Up

Well this weekend was a blast! I apologize ahead of time for no pictures, I left my camera at the house and will have to get the few we took from Whitney. Although, I would be a little scared to post them if we would have taken them. It was a pretty crazy weekend!

We went out to Archer City, TX for some dove hunting, muddin, and frog giggin (although the frog giggin was not at all expected, that was a first even for Dave). We took a little rode trip with Cody and Whitney to his Uncle's land and left Friday night. When we got there it was already a full house! We took the chuck wagon and Cody took their four wheeler out to ride the trails with the rest of the bunch. Cody's Uncle has lots of land so there is a TON of places to go riding.

Days consisted of lots of eating, napping and some skeet shooting. It has been quite awhile since we have had a weekend without tv or internet. It was Dave's birthday yesterday (Sept. 6th) and what a birthday it was. The last night we were there was the most fun. There were about 20 people who all took out four wheelers and mules out to go muddin. There were some really funny moments and everyone had a great time! They got a few frogs, one so big I wish we had a camera! They shot a few snakes and in the mist of all that a few people got stuck in the mud. It was so funny to watch the boys try to get a jeep out of the mud with Cody's four wheeler, but they did it! Hercules, Hercules!

Happy 30th Birthday Babe!!! I know it was great! Thank you Cody and Whitney for letting us come out for the weekend, we had a great time!!!!
