Sickness and big news

We have been fighting an ear infection going on 8 days now. Blah! (I actually think it's teething/ear infection/cold/the crud!) Poor Colbi has just been feeling horrible.

This pretty much sums up how she's been feeling:
Gigi and Pops kept her one day last week and thank goodness. She was a runny faucet and still had fever. My poor baby. She's doing much better, but you can tell she still isn't 100% thanks to the never ending congestion we can't get rid of.

This was her at her worst.

I can see why parents are just exhausted now once their kids get sick. It's hard on both parent and kid! And now, I seem to have it.

In other news, I'm moving salons!
I'm excited/nervous about moving. I'm really excited to be in new place, but with that comes nervousness. I think it's always normal to have some butterflies in your stomach about starting somewhere new. I have a friend who works at my new place and I'm excited about that. I'm so thankful and grateful that I have done so well for my first year on my own. I still have my own room, which is nice because I love the privacy and so do my clients. I'll take pictures because it's beautiful!

We also celebrated my sister-in-law's 40th birthday Saturday. I didn't get any pictures! We did a surprise dinner at Uncle Julio's and managed to get the whole Petty side together. It was a very nice present for Jennifer.

I spent today cleaning out my study. I'm moving some furniture to the salon and preparing it for Colbi's new play room.

Did I mention she started crawling?

(9 month post to come..........I've been waiting to get my happy baby back for that one!)

Friday Five: Negative Nancy Style

  1. Being an adult stinks sometimes. I'm just being honest. Sometimes I get tired of being responsible and doing the right thing and making the right choices. Sometimes I wish I still lived with my parents without a care in the world, but that's a long distant memory. Between dealing with medical bills from Colbi and our stupid-never-see-anyone-from-the office HOA, this week has been stressful and I'm. over. it.
  2. Seriously ready to give my dogs away. I know that sounds horrible! It's more stress for me than I want and, really, C'mere needs a place he can be outside without worrying about being too loud. Thanks to our creepy neighbor who likes to call and complain about all most anything, I've become pretty cool with the animal control officer. Woohoo.
  3. Anyone still watch the Office? I do and this past week was hilarious! I'm hoping Michael Scott shows up for the last episode but, I doubt it.
  4. I need a night away. A girls night that involves lots of laughing and maybe an adult beverage.
  5. Someone come clean my house!
(On a sidenote: I'll try and make my next post a little bit more uplifting).

Build 'Em Up

I haven't done a link up in quite some time, so I thought I would join in! Kelly's Korner is doing REMEMBERING YOU this week, so I thought I would share a few things I do to help me feel normal.

If you're new visiting my blog, I have an almost 9 month old girl name Colbi. I'll be honest, I'm just now starting to feel somewhat normal. I guess that's about right.....they say it takes at least 9 months to loose (hopefully) all the baby weight. We're working on that one!

I worked out a lot before I got pregnant. I mean, six days a week usually and mainly running because it was just my outlet. I had built up my tolerance pretty well and was waking up at about 5:30 everyday to go run. Into my first trimester, my doctor put me on some restrictions due to my placenta previa and running was on the list to go. Boo! I've slowly been getting back into it. Mainly because, I run better in the mornings and it's just not feasible to get up that early anymore. My husband leaves for work very early but before it didn't matter, I didn't have a baby at home. HA! I've started feeling more and more like me again after I got serious about running. I'm doing it about 3-4 times a week at the moment. I'm hoping to increase it.

I also love to blog. I used to be very regular at it. Now, I feel like I just always blog about Colbi. I guess you do as a new mom, let's be honest, there isn't just a ton of other stuff going on. But, I do like to read other blogs too so that's always nice to spend a little time every now and then doing that.

I love to get pedicures! It's very relaxing and a small little break from the hussle and bussle of life. I think pretty feet can make a world of difference on how you feel. Pretty toes speak a thousand words to me. Especially during flip flop season!

Lastly, I've always been good at keeping up my hair. I can't help it. I think a good cut and color does WONDERS for your self-esteem and the way a woman carries herself. Since I am a stylist, I get to see the difference a good haircut or highlights can change the way a woman sees herself. It can take years off of your face, step up your pep, and just, make you feel pretty. This is not to say that everyone needs to get their hair colored or chopped off, but in my opinion, going six months between a good haircut is way too long. Sometimes, that's the only thing you can change about yourself that is consistent to everyday. Make sense?

That reminds me, my roots are starting to show!

One thing that is on my list of "to-do's" is work on spending some quality time with my girls. I talk to my friends, but don't really spend as much time seeing them as I'd like. This is mainly due to my feeling of guilt. And, that sometimes, I just don't think it's worth it with Colbi being so little. She sleeps well, but wakes up early! I guess at the moment, I just value my sleep too much. But, once a month I think I can deal with it. Don't you?

What do you do to remember yourself? Go link up with Kelly and share! :)

My sweet girl

We had our first real sickness this weekend and it was NOT fun! We've been very lucky to not have had to deal with Colbi being too sick yet. Saturday night was rough, fever, throw up, not eating...poor baby. We went to the doctor and she looks much better, wouldn't you say?

Love my sweet girl. And, I think I caught up on my sleep! :)

Tuesday Tell All

I feel like such a productive person today!

I had a long list of stuff to get done today, and I managed to get it all done. YAY!

One of the things on my list was to pick up some new tanning lotion. If you are friends with me on Facebook, you saw that I've been debating on tanning again. I know, I know. It's horrible. I should appreciate the color of skin God gave me........well, like I like to say........"Tan fat is better than pale fat." HA. Don't you just feel better with a tan? No? Ok, maybe that's just me. Well, here's my compromise.

This stuff is the best "non" smelling tanning lotion. I buy mine at the beauty store, I bet you can find it at Ulta. Literally, it actually smells g-o-o-d.

And, then today, I found these beauties:
It was a nice little surprise on my run today.

I'm blogging on my new computer! YAY! It's new to me, not new from the store. But, we got a sweet deal and it didn't break the bank.

Lastly, I had to add a picture of my cute lady.

I could just eat her!

By the way, are ya'll watching the Voice? I am LOVING Usher and Shakira, and of course, Blake and Adam. I wish Celo and Christina would stay gone because it's just so fun this year.

Annndddddd, we missed Game of Thrones Sunday. I got rid of HBO, so we will be going over to my parents to watch this season. I don't think they will mind too much :)
