One Year Anniversary

It all started with two people, one lady and one man who met and fell in love. Both weren't looking for anything when they started dating, just a date. That date turned into two, then three and before each of them knew it they felt a love they had never experienced before. Two years into it, that special man asked another a very special man if he could spend the rest of his life with that lady. So it all started with an date............

The quality of this picture isn't great but this was the weekend we got engaged. Dave proposed on that very pier while we were doing exactly what we love together. We went fishing the day after and got this fish. Ah, so special isn't it ;)

After a six month engagement and lots of planning that brings us to the night before our wedding. Our rehearsal was on Halloween so we, me, decided everyone should dress up! It was very cute and I don't know anyone who did that before so it made it unique as well!
My Aunt Angie, Mom, Leslie, my Dad, and my father in law. We had our rehearsal at the Oasis Restaurant on Joe Pool Lake, fitting for two fishermen right?
The Petty Women, in front Melanie, Jennifer, me, Brenna, Sherry, Kristen and Braiden. So not all women but you get it.
The Pecor Family. Leslie, Jenna, me, Dad, Angie, and my mom. Mimi and Pappaw were there in spirit :)

My friend Elizabeth. Her and Kyle are so cute! They got married the following May!
Jennifer, me, Leslie, Amber, Jenna, Emily and Elizabeth. All were my bridesmaids except Lizzy. She was in charge of making sure everyone walked down the aisle when they were suppose too!
My Dad dressed up as a Blues Brothers, so creative that guy. Lizzy practiced being the bride

Brenna, Braiden, Ethan, and Bailey. All the Petty grandchildren, they did great!

Mr. and Mrs. David Samuel Petty!! Our ceremony was so special and I'm SO glad I decided to get someone to video it. Our kids will be able to see our wedding one day. I watch it sometimes to see us and remind me of the vows we took. It goes by so fast you almost forget what you said :)
I am so incredibly lucky to have been blessed with Dave in my life. God knew what he doing. I get to wake up everyday to someone who loves me unconditionally and knows just how lucky he is that he gets to do the same!! Everyone says the first year of marriage is the hardest, I don't know about the hardest but it definitely tried our patience and temper at times. Marriage is about growing together, learning together, and appreciating each other. Dave and I work at all three, it can be tough. I love that we are best friends, there is no one I would rather spend my time with. Dave makes me laugh, he makes me feel special, he supports me, and believes in me. Neither one of us are perfect but we know that there is no one else we want to spend the rest of our lives with.
Dave, thank you for being a man of integrity and for loving me even when it's hard. Thank you for always wanting to work things out, for making life fun, and for teaching me how to take advantage of all the times we get to spend together. Thank you for being a Godly man, for always seeing the positive in people, and for leading our family in the right direction.

We don't always know what God has in store for us, but with you I know and trust that we will always land on top. Even if the "top" isn't where we thought it would be. Thank you for the best year of my life and here's to many more!!!! I love you with all my heart!!
Brooke
p.s. I posted this early because I will be taking a break from the Internet world for just a bit to enjoy my anniversary and some well deserved time off!

I just wanted to share!

Dave got the best news yesterday! He is now officially employed! He got a job offer yesterday morning for an estimating position and we couldn't be more thankful. I told Dave last night that all praise needs to go to God, he had the right timing along with the right company so we feel extremely blessed! It even has benefits, praise the Lord!

And guess what! Cody got a job too! They were both told yesterday around the same time. We went out last night to celebrate with Whitney and Cody, it was good day on Sunshine Court!!

I would like to pass along the prayer request for Brittany Horton. Please go here and read about it, she has been battling cancer for the past year. Please pray for comfort for her as she is about to for go a very challenging treatment.

For my sister...........

I have to brag on my sister, my twin, Leslie. I am so proud, not only of the hard worker she is and the goals she set for herself but the woman she is turning into. Leslie has always been an extremely hard worker and seeing her success she is achieving through Roadhouse just astounds me. She told me some great news, but I'm not allowed share it yet. Just know, there are some great things to come from her in the future!

Leslie, I truly treasure the time I get to spend with you. I know those times are far and in between now the older we get. No one else knows me like you, you know my thoughts without even having to say anything.
I am thankful that God brought me you, to share my life with and to share yours. I was driving home from eating dinner with you tonight feeling so blessed I got to grow up with a twin just like you. There is no else like you.

I am so incredibly proud of you. Your hard work is paying off, not only at work but in your personal life as well. You are, and continue to become a beautiful women I am so thankful God gave me you to share my birthday with, to argue with, to text silly things too, and to gossip with (No, we don't really do that do we!) I love you more than you will ever know and you will always hold a special place in my heart that belongs just to you! Here's to many more successes in your life and many more years of sharing great, and not so great things with one another. I LOVE YOU SISTER!

Look who's back!

6:30 tonight could not have come sooner! My husband finally got back from his trip to Georgia, he was gone five days but it felt like forever!! I was so glad to see him. The trip was a success and he said his Pawpaw's service turned out great (as good as can be) and there were several old friends that came to pay their respects.
And what do you know?! This is what he brought back from his Pawpaw's stash. Five tackle boxes, yes you read that right. Actually there were quite a few more but Chris (Dave's twin) and Dave went through them to figure out which they each wanted. Needless to say, this will keep Dave busy for a few days. He will be working on it all to get it "organized" the way he wants it ;)
I told Dave today, I am so thankful I am have someone to come home too. I used to not think it would be a big deal if he or I traveled for work because I'm pretty independent and find things to keep me busy but now I don't know how I would handle it! I would probably end up working a lot and/or watching a ton of movies and eating junk food. I caught up on my sleep while he was out of town that's for sure. And TNT became my best friend, they always play great movies!
Hope everyone has a great week! We, or I, have quite a busy week. Several events for work, and guess what! Our one year anniversary is exactly one week from today! Need to start planning something fun to do. Also, say a little prayer for Dave. He is going into the company he interviewed with a couple weeks back for an official offer! I hate to count our eggs before they hatch so here's to many positive thoughts!

5 Favorite Pictures

This was at Elizabeth's wedding and I just love it! Sara, on the right of me, was so much fun! Her, her husband Brandon, Dave and I really hit it off. Hopefully we can plan a trip to Lubbock to see them with Elizabeth and Kyle!

This was pretty close when Dave and I started dating. I miss those days, seems like a long time ago. Is it so sweet that I'm still completely madly in love and think my husband is the most handsome man on the face of the planet? You may gag now. Ha!
This was just a great picture of all the Pecor women. This was right before Dave and I got engaged and we were celebrating my Dad's birthday. I really like my hair in this picture :)
Ah Leslie and me. I love my twin. We were at my parents for dinner this night. We do look alike in this picture, don't you think?
Emily is one of my very best friends. We have been friends since the 7th grade, that's a long time! I miss her like crazy, she is livin it up in California. I still need to go see her. One day, one day.

5 Things

Why not just jump on the band wagon! I am coming across many of the "5 Things" on people's blogs so I will do-"5 Things I Miss"

#1: First thing, I miss Dave. He is in Georgia, his Pawpaw passed so they are taking care of his things with Sherry and Gordon. I really do not like coming home to an empty house. It's boring and quiet. Although my dogs are ALWAYS happy to see me!

#2: My good old Roadhouse days. I'm not going to lie, I mourned Roadhouse for like 2 years I think after I quit, I still have days where I think how fun it was to work there and all the friends and regulars I made there. I enjoyed working for my old bosses and just the atmosphere of it all. I really do miss it sometimes, although I do not miss working every holiday and being physically tired everyday after my shifts. You trade one for the other I guess because now I'm off all holidays and only mentally drained some days.

#3: A few years ago I was in the BEST shape of my life. I literally worked out at least six times a week. It felt so great. Sounds horrible I know and like all excuses but between commuting to work and back and working about six days a week, I simply can not find my motivation to start working out again. It makes me sad because I feel like I have to trade time for either working out or actually seeing my husband and relaxing after work.

#4: New episodes of FRIENDS. I know Jenna said this in her post about how she loves Friends, and I do too! But every Thursday was so much fun. I remember in college, all our friends starting grasping the fact we would not answer the phone, door, go out, study, anything between 7-7:30 because we were glued to Friends. I love Friends but I would gladly watch NEW episodes!

#5: The care free days of high school and college. I would never want to go back to high school but I miss the days of feeling like my responsibilities were limited and I still had a ton of time to accomplish things. The older we get it just seems like we are limited to things due to obligations, kids, husbands, bills, etc. I know it's a part of getting older but it doesn't have to be like that. We make it like that.

I have such a busy weekend coming up and I'm pooped! I'm off to bed, yes it's 9:30. So what! Oh that can be my sixth thing I miss, SLEEP! Dang this whole work thing, gets in the way of everything!

The Future Mrs. Jason Whitehead

BIG news in the Pecor family. Jenna, my older sister, is now engaged! YAY! You can go here and read about them!! He proposed last night at the Cheesecake Factory in Frisco with all the Pecors there. It was very sweet. I think she knew the whole day what was going on and just didn't want to say anything. The girls spent the day shopping and the guys went to play golf and we met up for dinner. A few pictures to show the night:

This is a bad picture but you have to get a picture of the ring, right? It's very pretty!!
Jenna has been friends with Karen for a long, long time and she even drove up to celebrate with everyone. Her and Tanna got her this super cute apron so she can officially become domesticated!
Our friend Kate even came to say congratulations! I love Kate! She lives far away so we are horrible at meeting up and spending time together. SHAME ON US! She is one of the funniest, most fun people to be around. We met in college and have managed to stay in touch all these years, it's like no time has passed when we get together. I miss you Kate!!

The other highlight of my night you ask?? Well, Kristi talked about the red velvet cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory and OMG! Yes, I used OMG. It was the best, most delicious dessert I have ever had. No lie. If you haven't had it yet, GO! It will be the most wonderfully, decadant thing you will ever eat. (hey Cheesecake Factory, I think that earns me free red velvet cheesecake for life, I'm a walking commercial!)
CONGRATULATIONS JENNA AND JASON! WE ARE SO HAPPY FOR YOU! NOW ONTO WEDDING PLANNING!!!!

Prayer Request

Dave's Pawpaw passed last night. Sherry and Gordon were there with him in the nursing home and Dave drove up after he found out. I am just asking for some prayers for the Petty Family. As Pawpaw's death was expected, it never makes it any easier. The comfort that I feel is that he in heaven experiencing all the wonderfulness of being with the Lord and finally out of pain. I also envision him introducing himself to my Mimi and Pappaw and telling them both about what has been going on with me for the past few years. Silly I know, but I miss them both and so wished they could have met Dave.

They will be having a service in Georgia next week so I'm not sure I'll be able to attend but I know it will be a great visitation for the family.

Please say a little prayer for the family for some comfort and the ability to handle the loss.

I found great comfort in the Heaven is Real book. It talks about loosing loved ones and how the ones left behind deal with saddness and depression. I was not close to Dave's Pawpaw but I was close to mine and I think of him often. It reminds me that not long ago I was dealing with the loss of my Pappaw. I miss him. I miss having the wonderful love of a grandparent in my life and the feeling of him being proud of me. But I know he is heaven and I will see him again one day.

Tuesday's List

So I'm jumping on the band wagon and joining the Tuesday's List crew! This week's topic is favorite stores to shop! I don't get to shop much but when I do here are the places I like to shop at:

Clothes:
-I LOVE Old Navy/the Gap. I know it's one of those "typical" places where everyone tends to shop which means most people have the same clothes but I can't help it. They have cute clothes and aren't super expensive therefore I shop there.
-I also LOVE New York and Company. It's an awesome store especially when they are having a sale. Another typical place to shop but whatever
-I do like American Eagle too, they have comfortable clothes there. Not really somewhere I shop at to buy work clothes.
-Express is a very trendy cool place to shop but geez. I grew out of paying that kind of money for clothes when I actually started being responsible about what I spent my money on.

Home Decor:
-Golightly's is my new favorite store!! I LOVE IT! It has all original things either made by people or antiques. And it's very reasonable in price. It's a tea room as well so you get to shop and enjoy a nice tea room lunch!
-I do love me some Hobby Lobby
-Home Goods is a good one too, although they are a little more pricey
-Kohls, they ALWAYS have stuff on sale
-any garage sale. I know, I know. But guess what! You find some great things, especially if you go to garage sales in places like McKinney or Plano because all the stuff up there is expensive to the original owners and cheap to me!

I have no babies so I don't shop for baby clothes although I do know that Kid to Kid is a great place to shop! I have been there on a few occasions and if I'm learning anything from all my friends with kids it's that those kids grow out of clothes SO fast saving money any way you can is spectacular!

Canton of course is such a great place to shop for home decor. The good thing about Canton is that you are negotiate price and there are so many vendors of the same type of product you can get some great deals!

Anyone else have any other awesome places to shop in the DFW area?? I would love to get some new ideas!

Weekend Wrap Up

Lots going on this weekend!! Friday night we met Jenna, Jason, and my parents out at Texas Roadhouse in Grand Prairie to see my twin Leslie. She has to work nights and weekends so we don't get to see her much but this was the first time in a looonnnggg time the family has all been in the same place. I love going up to Roadhouse, not only did I use to work there but we have some friends still there so it's always nice to catch up!

I had to work Saturday at the Festival in Midlothian so we didn't stay out to late. After I was done with the festival I met my friend Whitney out for dinner and some shopping. I was in desperate need of a few new pairs of shoes and some work clothes. We found some great deals! I took Whitney to this place that I love in UpTown Village. It's so amazing! I got lots of great new jewelry although my silly computer isn't allowing me to up load any more photos so I'll have to remember to take some pics when I wear them :)

This morning we went to see Dave's Pawpaw. He isn't doing very well and they aren't expecting him to live much longer. He is in a nursing home in Ennis not to far from where we live. Getting old is scary! It always depresses me to go to nursing homes because it's just a reminder that at some point we will all be old (if we are lucky to live that long). Poor Pawpaw, he doesn't look to good.
The rest of the day was spent doing some running around and grocery shopping. We did have a nice dinner with Gordon, my father in law along with Chris, Kristen, and the kids. Dave of course was clued to the TV due all the exciting football that on (I'm rolling my eyes at the moment :)
Hope everyone has a great week! My parents are out of town on their fall trip so I'm hoping they are having fun and have a safe trip back!!
Also, my friend LaChrisha got married yesterday!! YAY! Congrats Chrisha and Wayne, I'm sorry I couldn't be there! I hear it was BEAUTIFUL!!

Thursdays are the BEST!

First and foremost I have to say, Jim and Pam's wedding was WAY to adorable on the Office. I do not understand people who don't watch this show. I get that Gray's Anatomy comes on at the same time but seriously! I guess it only really makes sense for people who work in an office environment. It was way to sweet, he said some great things and of course the wedding was just to funny. This shows reminds me of FRIENDS when it came on, it's like you wait and wait for all the "good" stuff to happen and still don't miss out on the incredibly funny humor. Classic.
You know, it just reminded me how fun it is to get married. While the planning isn't all that fun (let's face it, it's a ton of work!) but the actual ceremony and reception is. This time last year I was in the final stages of getting everything together for our wedding and literally counting down the days until my last name would change and I would get to walk down the aisle.
The first year of marriage, man it goes by FAST! (Our one year anniversary is November 1st) Dave and I have endured many trials during our first year. One of the biggest is communication. I think it's just an ongoing issue in any marriage although the older you get the less you care about discussing every detail of everything. We are continuing to work on our communication and realize how to not take everything so personal, to try and understand feelings without criticizing them or being defensive about what each other are saying. It's hard and we definitely do not have it down after a year!!
I absolutely LOVE being married. We have a ton of fun with just each other, hanging out and stuff. I couldn't imagine being married to anyone in the world!!

Real Housewife!!

Please excuse the alcoholic beverages in the picture, but look! Vicki from the Real Housewives of Orange County!! It was super exciting! From the left it's Kristine, Lisa, Amber, Vicki, and myself. I had to post it because it's the one celebrity I have actually taken a picture with :)

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend was busy! Friday night started off with the Midlothian Homecoming game!! It was like old times, brought back old memories of high school. We went with Kristen, Chris, Braiden, and Brenna. And even met up with our neighbors Matt, Heather, and Avery!!

Here we are standing in line waiting for tickets because we of course were late. It was a ton more crowded than we thought it would be. Some of the mums we saw were AMAZINGLY large, were they that large when I went to high school??
Funny story, it was really crowded and it has been years since any of us have been to a high school game but we managed to get tickets directly on the 50 yard line!! How you ask? Well, it never dawned on any of us that the blue seats belonged to season ticket holders. So of course Kristen and I were worried the entire time the people who actually paid for those seats were going to show up and be mad, lucky for us they never did!
Brenna was beat, she passed out in about the third quarter. I'm not totally sure how I didn't get a picture of me or Braiden all night. Braiden did really well, he lasted till the fourth quarter and was so excited about the football game.

Unfortunetly, Midlothian lost. But the last few minutes of the game were very exciting. The homecoming half time was very entertaining, it was like prom on steriods almost. Some of the dresses, I guess I choose to block out that part of high school because I do not remember it being that fancy. The King who won was so cute though, he was really excited and kept raising his hands in victory! So cute.

The other fun thing I did this weekend was go to my friend Chrisha's bachelorette party. We met up at the Glass Cactus and then went over to Cowboys Red River where we met Vicki from the Real Housewives of Orange County. She looks just like she does on the show and was sure to tell us the new season starts Nov. 5th! We did get a picture with her but I'm waiting for one of the girls to post it so I will when she does :)
These were all the girls who went out to celebrate, I'm not sure why it's so small. You'll need your glasses to see everyone.
Drum roll please.........TA DA! The silver bullet is back and in action! Thank goodness!! We got it back Thursday morning and she was just as happy to see us as we were her. Isn't it funny how you really miss your car when you don't have it? Hope you all have a great week!!

I would like to thank the following people for making this award possible.....

Guess what? Kristi nominated me for the Kreative Blogger award! YAY!! Thank you Kristi! I feel so honored, I would like to thank the following people for making this award possible:

"To my husband, who is the inspiration for my blog. Thank you Dave for all the goofy, wonderfully entertaining stories and experiences we share together to make this blog possible. My dogs C'Mere and Buddy who love me unconditionally. (insert music that starts playing over me speaking).......... I would like to thank Tanna, who brought Kristi and I together to become blog friend through the Challenge. And thank you to everyone who reads my blog. I just hope you get as much joy reading my blog as I do writing it. Thank you." (I exist and don't really know which part of the stage I'm to exist too.....so akward, :)

Honestly though, I think the whole blog world is so cool. Kristi and I follow each other's blogs and pray for one another, just keep up with other people. It's a neat thing in my opinion!!

So here are the rules:
1-Thank the person who nominated you for this award.
2-Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3-Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
4-Name 7 things about yourself that people may not know.
5-Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers.
6-Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7-Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know they've been nominated.

Seven things people may not know:
1. I love my honda accord, the first car I've owned that I actually love
2. Law and Order will always be a show I will watch, it's timeless. And I used to love it when I worked at night because it would come on during the days, especially the marathons that would play on holidays! :)
3. I went to Stephen F. Austin University my first year of college, Leslie and I had a BLAST!
4. I have a really hard time buying laundry detergent, they all smell so good and it's hard to choose! I literally will stare at all the choices and debate which one smells the best.
5. I get really nervous when I have to call people to cancel for something, doesn't matter what it is. I always feel like people will be mad at me :)
6. I'm starting to get a little bit of baby fever, although after this week of being sick I'm leaning towards the no babies for awhile thing again. I couldn't imagine feel poopie and trying to take care of a baby, geez! Besides the fact, Dave needs an actual job before we can think of having a baby!
7. I know a BIG secret about something that is going happen this month but can't say anything about it. Are you serious????? The nerve, I hate keeping secrets! :)

I nominate:
1. Whitney-friend that lives across the street
2. Kristine-friend from high school
3. Rachel-friend from high school
4. Karen-she has the most beautiful little girl I have ever seen, except for my niece of course :)
5. Jenna-my older sister
6. Nikki-my sister's friend, although she named her child after me so that makes her super cool (Nikki, I know you didn't really name Brooke after me but I would like to think I was the inspiration, tee hee)
7. Amy-friend from high school

**I will notify you all when my computer decides it would like to actually let me leave a comment on other people's blogs. Dang rain, it even makes computers tired.......***
