Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend was full of lots of fun!

Friday, we went to a city carnival type thing with my family. My dad is on the Parks and Recreation board, so we get the VIP treatment! Hollar! It was a load of fun! Colbi and Avery had a great time!

Colbi loves her some popcorn, but her favorite is kettle corn. She is my child.
Aunt Leslie even got to come!
We stayed out fairly late, but it was well worth it!!

Saturday, I was suppose to go to our town thing but managed to get a flat tire on the way home from work. Dave had brought Colbi up to work so he could go play golf, which meant I had her as we were stuck on the highway. She was actually pretty well behaved. I pulled over to a bank parking lot and waited for roadside assistance (only to find that our town doesn't have a courtesy vehicle, go figure!), but my brother-in-law came to the rescue.
We ended up leaving my car there and once Dave got done with golf he went up to change the tire. My niece was having a birthday party and I didn't want to keep my bil too long. It all worked out.

After the party we went to Ooma's for some dry butter beans....have you ever had them?! They're good, I think it's a Georgia thing because no one I know has ever eaten them. Have you?

Sunday, we woke up and went to church. I worked the nursery for the 9:30 service and Dave went to big church. He came to get me afterward to tell me he was getting baptized. I was so excited and shocked! He has been thinking about this for quite some time and felt like Sunday, God was really tugging at his heart. No family was there except myself and Colbi, that made me a little sad. But, like Dave said, he just felt like the time was then. He will get a video of it and everyone can watch it. Until then, here are some pictures!
The man on the left is one of the pastors he is working with in the Celebrate Recovery ministry Dave serves in. He really respects and likes him!
"I've been washed in the blood of the lamb!"

I kept hearing the O Brother Where Art Thou music. HA!
I can not tell you how thankful I am. Dave has struggled some with religion and his beliefs, so this really was a huge step for him! I am so glad I know for certain that I will see my husband again in Heaven. He said he felt like a new person, like it was a new beginning for him. God is good. All the time. All the time. God is good.

After, Dave left to go play golf (again!) and we headed home to eat some lunch and take a nap!

After Colbi woke up, we headed to my parents to play some.....
........these two are so adorable together. Avery is bossy and Colbi loves her. Colbi has some sass too, don't let her fool you!
We ended the day with a little Brave and pizza.

Whew!!!
Hope your weekend was as good as our's!

My kind of morning

It was a beautiful morning just calling for a walk outside!
(by the end of it, I was sweating. BAD!)

I love that I get to wake up with Colbi and spend some time with her. She loves to be outside and to be "push" (her word) in the stroller.

I am so thankful for this little girl God gave me! She fills my heart more than I could have ever imagined!

Easter Weekend 2014

We had a very busy few days around here, as did most of you I'm sure.

Saturday, I worked a half day and then headed home so we could get ready for church! I love that our church has night services, and on the "holidays" they will do church Saturday night. It's so convenient and this Easter service was a very special one.

After church, we headed over to my in-laws house for dinner and egg huntin'!

She caught on very quickly to how it all works!

Did I mention Memaw and Aunt Karen came to town? They have been here for about two weeks and I know they love seeing Colbi and how big she has gotten!

My new favorite picture!

Four generations!!

Sunday, Colbi and I got up and went back to church so I could be in the nursery. Dave opted to go play a little golf in the morning, which I can't blame him! I would have taken advantage too. After church, we went over to my parents house for lunch and more eggs!
This is Colbi's favorite seat. My parent's neighbor sure is nice about her always sitting on it! HA!
Lunch was amazing! Afterward, the Easter bunny went out to hide some eggs. There were so many, Colbi had to dump her basket two times! Needless to say, if anyone wants any candy, come on over!

Gigi, Pops, and Colbi
Mommy, Daddy, and Colbi!

It was a very nice weekend, full of family and fun. And, I was reminded driving to church in the early morning of that Sunday so long ago. To visit Jesus' tomb and find out that he was alive and had risen must have been such a sea of emotions! I am so thankful for God and his son to have given his life in order for us to be forgiven of our many sins.

"Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
 worthy, worthy, worthy
......this is amazing grace!"

Girl's Night and Monday with Mommy

We had a Girl's Night Saturday, which was long over due. We had two friends drive in from McKinney, Leslie was finally in town, and two other friends from high school meet up. It was a night full of laughs and great 80's music from a cover band at a local place on the lake. By 10pm, we were all ready to go home, but stayed a little longer because the band was that good. There were even people there dressed up in 80's clothes. Pretty funny!

Sometimes you just need a night out with friends to remind you that you are human. I don't get to see friends too often unless it involves a baby shower, kid party, or bridal shower. That's the season we are in and I wouldn't change a thing. And, I'm not one who "craves" the night's out. I'm always happy to show up if someone invites me, but I'm perfectly content hanging with my family at home. If it makes me lame, oh well! :-)

Today, we had plans to visit the local gym and let Colbi run around but first thing this morning involved milk, vomit, and my clothes. So.......we skipped it. She didn't seem to feel horrible the rest of the day. I think it might have just been congestion and sucking down milk too quickly. But, she was sick on Saturday too. So random.

We spent the day cleaning, doing some laundry, and playing.

I did let her have a little fruit with some cool whip on top, hopefully that doesn't come back to bite me.

Easter is this weekend and I'm looking forward to it. I'm working the morning services at church, Dave's grandmother and aunt made a surprise visit, and I'm working Saturday so this weekend should be a busy one!

Monday with Mommy

Today was such a great day!

We woke up and got ready for Avenue Moms (which is like a MOPS group probably.....we have fun, fellowship, and a message). I'm starting to really like it. I posted about it a few weeks ago......today was still a little awkward, but every time we attend it'll get less and less frigid. I use that word because it is one of those things that just takes time to get to know other women and actually become friends with them. Gasp! It can happen! :-)

On another note, I'm so thankful for this past weekend.
Dave attended a men's retreat and came home with some convictions and also some praises. I'm just so grateful that God is really tugging on his heart, in more ways than one. He has found a ministry within our church he wants to serve in and has very much opened up to the idea of "church". Without going into too much detail, he was the (very common) person who felt judged every time he attended and just had issues with organized religion in general. I'm so thankful he got the chance to attend something that struck a cord, and not for selfish reasons on my part. Being raised in church was one of the best (if not the best) things my parents did for us. We learned so much and made some great friends and memories. How beneficial is it to be surrounded by Godly mentors that can help raise your child? I think some awesome things are headed our way and I continue to pray for my husband and the path God is laying out for him.

In other news, after Avenue Moms, we headed out for some lunch and then grocery shopping. Am I the only one who HATES grocery shopping with a passion? I've also started actually going to a few places to buy things. Ugh. I can't stand it.....but, I did save some money today. And, that's the point I guess.

We came home for a nap and then back out to meet Daddy for a quick dinner at Chick-fil-A before he headed to church for his service meeting. It was back home for Colbi and I after dinner for some cleaning before bed. Whew!

Colbi loves to help. "I helphful Momma" is what she walks around telling me. I love it because she gets a kick out of helping me (it may take me twice as long to get it done, but aren't we suppose to teach them to do their part?).

She got the hiccups before bed and laughed for a good ten minutes, no lie.

That laugh is the best thing I've ever heard in all my life. I cherish those moments.

Weekend Recap

This is an early edition of my weekend, since technically it isn't over yet.

We've had a few busy days around here. I had dinner with an old friend Friday. It was LONG over due since I hadn't seen her since she came to visit me in the hospital when Colbi was born. We laughed and talked and had a great time. I miss her so!

I need a tan! HA!
Colbi stayed the night at the my parents Friday, so I actually had a whole night and some of Saturday all by myself. What?!! It was really nice to have some time without a husband or child. I don't mean that ugly, but every now and then it is nice to just hang out with myself!

Colbi had such a great time at Gigi and Pops' house, she wasn't too thrilled to see me. HA! That's what is suppose to happen when you visit your grandparents. I remember crying when we would leave our Mimi and Pappaw's after visiting. It's a good thing!

Mom and I ventured out to Canton Thursday, where I got this awesome new hat! I've been wanting one for awhile, but never bought one. It was $5 day out there I swear! Everything we bought was $5, my kind of day! And from now on, I want to go on Thursdays! It wasn't super crowded.

We had a Hood wedding shower (I got zero pictures!) and it was so much fun. Colbi was a busy girl running around everywhere. There were plenty of kiddos there and luckily, Jenna and Jason hosted. They have the perfect party house. Colbi stayed up till about 10:30 and was DONE by the time we pulled off her street. We had a great time and it was so good to see everyone.

We ended up staying the night over at my parents last night and made it home this morning. We are now enjoying the rain and nice movie.

Dave has been gone all weekend at a men's retreat and will make it back late this afternoon. We are ready for Daddy to be home! :-)

Hope your weekend was good too!

Tuesday play time

I skipped Monday with Mommy because we really only ran errands and cleaned the house mostly. Nothing exciting at all. Today, Colbi was suppose to visit the dentist, but once we showed up, we figured out that our insurance doesn't cover pediatric dentistry. So, I could have paid $98 for her second visit, or just wait until she will be seen by a general dentist (which is usually the age of 3). I have a feeling I'll break down and just pay out of pocket.

Long story short, we ended up at the play ground instead! I was going to take her for a long walk, but when she spotted the play ground and I couldn't say no.

She is such a big girl now days. She doesn't need me to help her climb anymore "I do it Mama!". My job was to "sit down" and watch. HA!

We walked around, came home to eat lunch, and she is now napping while Mommy cleans up this house (and blogs)!

The laundry is never ending, the floors continue to need sweeping, and the dishes seem to multiple in the sink.
How does this happen?!
